Title: K Code Alternator Pulley Color- Oct 65 car
Post by: evantugby on February 18, 2018, 10:29:24 PM
Working with 66 kar built at Metuchen. Is the alternator pulley SG black? Couple other pictures I've seen (not necessarily concours) show goldish color.

Thanks!

For your cars build period IMHO I would choose a black oxide finish. For this application its about when the engine was built

+1 .it was very late 66 production before the finish changed to the gold zinc. I have a vintage picture of a September build 67 hipo that still had the black alt pulley for instance . Apparently Ford was still changing over.

Black oxide?  Interesting.  My neighbor just bought a black oxide kit.  Do the other pulleys also get black oxide or SG black paint?

Sometimes the harmonic balancer was black oxide.
