Title: Ford ready reference catalog
Post by: preaction on March 27, 2018, 11:25:28 PM: I came across a Ford ready reference catalog 1967 edition I don't remember seeing anyone ever referencing one before, would one like this being a 67 edition be accurate for part identification such as a starter for a 67 mustang with a 390 the thinking being there hasn't been a service replacement issued yet ? It lists the mentioned starter being a C7AF-11001-A,C

Post by: jwc66k on March 28, 2018, 12:01:31 AM: Because C7AF-11001-A or C is the actual part numbered part installed. A service part would be in the format C7AZ the Z indicating a Ford service part.

Post by: J_Speegle on March 28, 2018, 12:06:24 AM: Since most of these cover every possible vehicle (read non-Ford) possible to boost sales I've not normally found them very useful since they cover so few parts.Normally pushing allot of Rotunda or Autolite parts. Mostly parts that quickly wore out. What oil filter will fit a 62 Dodge truck, What belt for the alternator of a 66 Fury and so on. I don' think they are more accurate than - the MPC printed at or about the same time period

Are handy at times finding what a fan belt (for example) that still has its paper sleeve on it fits if you find an old collection or garage with the rafters filled with hundreds of them

Believe its the same thing. Title changed slightly depending on year

Post by: NEFaurora on May 28, 2018, 01:12:35 AM: They have an edition for Specifically "BODY PARTS and Illustrations Catalog".... I've found that one extremely handy over the years.. in identifying body assemblies, trims, clips, rubber parts, etc.

In my own collection I think I have every "Ready Reference Catalog" from 1964-1970. The earlier "Quick Reference Catalog" name was later changed to "Ready Reference Catalog" name..as the years went on..in 1966...I think..
