Title: Tap size for UCA
Post by: Bossbill on June 02, 2019, 08:03:36 PM
The threaded portions of my [67] upper control arms need some help.

Can someone cross check me that the tap would be a 1.175"-16 ?

[edit -- zero out the digital caliper, dummy]

Not sure of the size. But originally the shaft end caps would cut their own threads. You just need to swege the hole to make a little smaller so it will recut the threads.

Yeah, you're right.
The cap is really, really hard. A file or re-threader won't touch it. And I think someone just made up a thread size because you cannot find a tap anywhere close.
The UCA is just mild steel and the cap should just cut right into it.

I think I'll give that a try.
Thanks for the suggestion!
