Title: A/C Compressor clutch wire
Post by: bryancobb on February 10, 2011, 04:18:28 PM
Mar 66 Metuchen C-Code

The wire going from the underdash A/C unit, through the firewall to the clutch brushes...

Is it just a one-piece extension or is it made up of two shorter extensions?

My Osborne book shows:
* the brushes having a short wire with a male plug into first extension
* first extension female plug onto brushes wire, then male plug end to near rear of intake manifold into second extension
* second extension female plug onto male end of first extension, then male plug end onto firewall and into A/C underdash unit female plug

I would appreciate a little help with the P/N for this/these extension(s).

I would be more comfortable replying when I could go look at my car to double check first (out of town so can't) but my recollection is that it is as you describe.  Short pigtail on the clutch.  Short pigtail on the A/C unit.  Two separate wires in between; one plugs into the interior A/C unit and terminates on the engine side of the firewall and the other plugs into this at the firewall and into the clutch pigtail.

I had to replace mine because the one on the A/C side had a mystery short hidden under the insulation and the one on the clutch end was broken at the clutch plug.  I think I bought both of these repro from NPD as an A/C "harness".
