I've been too ashamed to watch Barrett-Jackson.  Lot #15 was one of my college's cars.  (McPherson College for automotive restoration, we take a car every year.  Last year it was a 1957 Thunderbird.)  Well, it was a 1955 Chevy Bel Air 4-door, and it was a phenominal piece of crap.  6 cylinders didn't hold compression, there were holes in the floor, the paint was crap.  We sold it as a "survivor", but we patched the holes in the floor, redid the seat foam using the original covers, did some touch up work on the paint, replaced the suspension, and cleaned the engine bay.  It sold for somewhere between $6000 and $7000.

I would have thought that a car that Perkins restored would have brought more, and by the description that '55 Chevy brought a big dollar.......

I think we would have to know more about how Bob was involved in the car to say that.

I think this may have been the car I saw on E-BAY a few months back that had a buy it now price of $139,000. The E-BAY car was a factory black R code and had scored over 700 points at a MCA show and was restored by PERKINS with all of the trick NOS parts like exhaust,  tires, battery, etc.. I thought the buy it now price was a bargain for this car if it was as described. You could not even begin to restore a R code to this level for that money. In my opinion this years auction was a blood bath as the only cars that went for good money was the charity cars that can not be really be counted as they are a big tax write off for the wealthy. I could not believe that SPEED made us suffer through 3 baby T-BIRDS then skim over the black R code. As usual too many corvettes and T-BIRDS where televised. I noticed even the SHELBY convertibles did not bring much over $125,000 and these cars were bringing $100,00 20 years ago, I guess it's the sign of the times.

Don't recall if this Black CJ is a car that Bob restored fully or one he received for some correction/ improvement help. No idea of how recently this particular car was done.
