Title: 1966 convertible didn't sell at Mecum yesterday

The description says: "One of the best unrestored Mustang convertibles in the country"...

Engine compartment looks very original.  Nice to see the original tape on the heater blower motor.

definitely a front shock replacement along with a incorrect fuel pump.

surprise it didn't sell.  maybe unrestored cars are holding a higher dollar value in the eyes of the seller but not the buyers....

Look how well those original door panels match the interior paint.  Is it just my eyes, or are the reproduction '66 red door panels, dash pads, etc. too dark of a maroon compared to these?  Aside from the dashpad, the vinyl panels almost match the lighter '65 red interior color.

And????  That quote is heard multiple times every auction. Heard that a 67 Mustang was the best in the country twice (for different cars) at the same auction at least once. Once on Friday and again on Saturday. ... guess they didn't expect anyone to notice.

Know of a number of 66 unrestored convertible that I believe are much better than this example. Unfortunately the site has a very limited number of pictures

Didn't go over to the auction today (not planing on tomorrow either this year) or I'ld take a closer look for a better informed opinion
