Title: Gear and transmission oil
Post by: 65fastbk on December 17, 2013, 12:02:05 AM
Hi,

What's the best rear end gear and transmission oil to use on my 65 mustang.  It's a 4 Speed top loader, and 3.89 gears open end!

Thx

I've been using Redline synthetic gear oils for many years. Their M/T-90 is made specifically for older manual transmissions, I use the 75W-90 in the rear end.

I use the Mobil 1 75w-90  or the Mobil 1 75w-140 when I know the car will see some  hard use. Been using them for over 15 years / 180,000 miles without any measurable wear in both toploaders & T-10 transmissions. The same lube in the rear end as well.
