What is the Correct 1967 GT500 Headlight
« on: August 20, 2022, 11:47:15 PM »
I have two different headlights on my GT500. Car #817, production date 1/26/67. I can't find the correct part listed in the library. Can anyone tell me the correct headlight? Thanks. Maybe the inboard lights as well?

Are you looking a replacement bulb or a correct concours bulb?

They are all 5 3/4" bulbs.
The outside bulbs are two filament hi/low bulbs
The inners in the grill are single filament hi only.

Two of the correct bulb vendors are the GE or TungSol brand with wide flutes (the internal and visible ribs or flutes) inside the bulb.

You can go here to see what they look like and what the glass etch markings look like:

Thanks. I have 3 of 4 GE, but no FOMOCO script on any of them.

Are you looking for another hi/lo? Or just a hi?
Finding correctly scripted is tough. And expensive.
Which is why I offer the kit.

Show us  pics of your bulbs. All three.

Your GT 500 could have ether the TS or GE bulbs from the factory. They should all be the same mfg. They should all have the FOMOCO trade mark etched into the glass. I could not determine if the bulbs in the pictures had the FOMOCO etched or not when looking at them on my monitor.

I just reread your first post and see none of the bulbs have the FOMOCO trademark. That means that they are all replacements. They appear to be vintage bulbs so you may be able to get a stencil and etch the trademark on the bulbs you have . That is if you are concerned with that level of originality. New FOMOCO etched vintage bulbs will be hard to find and expensive relative to non original alternatives.

I recall that SAAC judging had the owner start the car and honk the horn.
I don't recall if the headlights were tested, but thought we did and looked for low beams only.

In the past for SAAC judging the operational check included testing low and high beams. That procedure is not evasive like say a windshield wiper test.

I believe Ralph Polshak has the stencils if you want to do your own etching. Mine turned out nice.

Ralph told me that NPD had purchased a large order from him so there is that . FYI one specific stencil type for GE and one type for Tung Sol. ;)

What is the thought process/documentation for the headlight bulbs on 67 Shelbys having the Ford logo etched on the face of the bulb? There were three very "low" serial number 67 Shelbys displayed at a show this past weekend, none of which had the etched trademark on the bulbs. Certainly could not verify/tell if any/all the bulbs were original but the cars were in very original condition.
