Sorry for resurrecting this post, but this might be relevant.   I recently found a blue under dash assist spring but it has three coils less than
others I've seen.    Is it possible it is for a 6 cylinder, as was previously suggested?   The vendors seem to sell only the 16 coil one (longer
as pictured).  Both springs are the same overall length.

Right, the blue one has less coils.  The MPC only calls for 1 spring, which confuses the matter.

  Does the spring carry only one part number ?  This one is C2AZ-7534-A.

I forgot to mention in my earlier post: the '66 I have with the powder blue spring is a 6-cylinder car.
