Topic: Picked up a Holly 3259-1 service replacement carb with LeMans bowls - value?

Hi,

I just got this 3259-1 service replacement carburetor for $300.  Don't know if that is a good deal or not, but it seemed about right, and I never see anything with the LeMans bowls outside of the SAAC forum or eBay. 

No S2MS number.

I was wondering what the forum thought of the price, and if anyone could tell me which run or reissue this was.  I know it is not an original as it has the squirter boss and 4 digit date, but still I like it.   

It may end up on a hipo 289 I am thinking about putting in my Fairlane.

Here are some pictures for future reference as well. 

   List 3259-1, LeMans center pivot bowls
   Date  2539 - 253rd day of 69, 79, etc.
   Metering blocks
      Front: Left L3259 above 4756, Right - 4754 above a 4
      Rear: Left L3259 above 4560

Carls Ford ,Branda and others sell the current ready to run reissue carbs for about 1400.00 . The 300.00 price allows for a professional restoration at about 500-600.00  and still be way under the money. If you don't care about a complete functional and cosmetic and just re gasket it then it would be even more under the money. The older version like the picture would be my preference compared to the current version with is more varied differences.
