Weatherstrip Adhesive Removal

Craners:
Searching for advice on how to remove weatherstrip adhesive from an original deck (trunk) lid seal.
I was able to remove the original weatherstrip seal from a 1968 Shelby fiberglass deck lid without damaging the rubber seal. The seal is actually in excellent, very soft condition .

I?d like to remove all the glue from the seal? to prep the seal for installation, once the paint work is completed.
Is the 3M product the way to go, or are there other methods that don?t risk damaging the rubber seal?

I found that common paint thinner will cause the original (1968) weather strip to almost dissolve at the interface with the adhesive. That separates the two but would ruin the weatherstrip.

I would use MEK or MEK substitute.

I've had good luck with charcoal lighter fluid and it doesn't hurt the paint.

There are also "things" you should NOT used or be aware of their shortcomings: any acetone based product like "Goof-Off"; Krud-Kutter (it MUST be wiped off in under a minute to prevent the paint from being destroyed); regular paint thinner, also a "timed" use product.
