Topic: Tectyl treatment

This morning I saw an option listed on the Marti report for 7T01C119584 I had never seen before, its Tectyl treatment. A quick search and what it appears to have been is a treatment of I assume the leaf springs to prevent rust and corrosion. It was developed during WWII to protect battle vehicles against sea salt corrosion.

Since this is an export order, I am guessing that this treatment was much like the Cosmoline that was sprayed on cars before ocean shipment.  Very common on British cars of the 60's.

Don't recall seeing that before but then I have a fair number of Marti reports and have not read every one of them

Do you know where the car was shipped to?  That might help, comparing or looking for cars sent to the same country or region

Accessory packaging would contain spare bulbs and fuses that may be difficult to source locally depending on the destination country.

It must be a very good and popular coating to still be available under the same product name and still available over 50 years later.

Basically, all cars in Sweden were treated with Tectyl (to prevent rust) before being delivered to customers.
It normally, covered the bottom, wheelhouses frame rails etc.

The car is currently located in Binghamton, NY and the owner wasnt aware of where it was shipped to originally.
