Anyone have a reference to look up what MX700677 color is? I found a snippet that shows it may cross-reference to Diamond Blue.
-
google got me this:
https://www.carpaintonline.com/paints-bycolor.php?Sort=paintname.Name...
13581, MX700677, pale blue, lincoln *, *. 13581, MX700677, pale blue, ford *, *. 13581, MX700677, pale blue, mercury *, *. 13581, WT8001, pale blue, mercury ...
But you have to be a member to access.

If you go directly to www.carpaintonline.com, you get the Apache web server test page. Which strongly suggests they're out of business.

Yes, that was the 'snippet', I was referring to...

I can confirm that WT8001 cross-references to Ditzler 13581. I can't confirm the MX number matches, but carpaintonline seemed to have a good database so I think there's a good chance it's correct. Where did you find the MX code?
-
It is on a '66 Mustang buck tag...
-
Is there any evidence of a pale blue on the car? If so we could try doing a color match. I've got a 1984 Color Selector that has WT8001. Other members may have copies too.
-
The car has had a re-spray in what looks like a light blue, the owner believes the original color to be white, but it's hard to say. I have invited him to join the site.
The interior color is 2 tone blue/white pony.

Some pics the owner posted...

I only have the later 67-up coded (WT coding) fleet color books so can't help and don't recall every seeing a cross reference from the MX to WT ones
In the WT system Blues all start with 8xxx
Looking through my picture collection didn't find any other 66 NJ special paint that shared the same special order DSO
If that is a blue - its a really pale example
-
The light blue on the exterior is definitely a re-spray. Everywhere else that looks like original paint looks more white. The only reason I mentioned Diamond Blue is from that one web reference when I put the MX number in google.

There is no MX code in the fleet info I have that ends in 677. A mistake on the tag maybe? Possibly 669?

607 maybe?

I don't think anyone would have any idea whether or not that was a mistake. What little I know about MX codes is they were colors outside of normal Ford M or W numbers.
Would be interesting if the owner could find a build sheet and see what's on it...

Slightly off topic, I ran "700677" in Yahoo search (include the quotes) to see what would show up. The results were interesting. A lot of real estate multiple listings use that number, a telephone number identification program in the UK, porn sites, a SAE report, and a lot (it's two words) of parts identified with it. There was no paint referenced.

I'm thinking you should buy the car in question Charles, tear in down and do a full throughbred restoration on it and report your findings to fellow concours forum members with regards to locating a buildhseet and any signs of original colour. car seems to be loaded with many nice options.
