1969 San Jose power steering components detailing guide
« on: July 01, 2022, 03:30:37 PM »
Is there any where I can find a definitive guide to how to properly detail and how to as closely as possible mimic the factory finishes on a complete power steering system on a San Jose car? Some of this will be done with paint and some with chemicals/plating and bead blasting. Thanks!!

no not really and if there was it would not likely include faux finishes such as paint since the hobby has slowly been moving away from that at least in restorations.

One thing you can do is to establish what each component is and how it was made and treated and work from there. And as a hint just bead blasting will not leave you with an acceptable final finish for any of the parts.

In the mix, not counting the hoses, you have cast iron, heat treated iron with machined details, aluminum, at least a couple plated items I can thing of and some P&O hardware.

As an aside this is where a guide starts. Someone in need that takes up the task and a guide is created with input from others.
