Topic: Alternator harness with a fuseable link?

I'm not as familiar with a 1971 harness.  Could the headlight harness of a 1971 fit perfectly in a 1966 with no modifications or changes, along with the integrated fog lights?  Connects up to the under dash harness too?
 This post is almost as much about the missing black /yellow wire from the headlight harness as it is about the fuseable link in the alternator harness.  My alternator harness also has the yellow jumper to the engine harness which is typically part of the headlight harness.  My alternator harness is a little beat up and was looking to replace it.  The headlight harness is in good shape but will not work without this odd alternator harness.  If it did not originally come on this 1966 where did it come from?

1971 is completely incompatible with 1966.  What you have is a reproduction alternator harness with improvements (e.g. fusible link).  The correct 66 alternator harness may be confused with the 65 GT/Pony alternator harness, so be careful.

Both 65 and 66 foglamp wiring was integrated with the headlight harness; in 1967, it was separate.

The 67 and 68 fog light wiring was integrated with the headlight harness.

My December 66 SJ GTA was/is not integrated.

Fusible links began to show up in 1971 alternator harnesses; for sure by 1973.  The first fusible link in main harness wiring was in 1970.  I've seen some 1969 headlight harnesses with fusible links, but those are not typical (probably service replacements). 

Thanks  Forgot about the 71 and up ones. Looked through my pictures and didn't find anything that looked like the OPs had (green rubber label) until I got to the 73's




And yes I've burn up a fusable link (just a section of wire) on a 69 but it was a reproduction wire loom so got lucky and a=only had to replace that section

Hmmm...on the underdash, it was separate; always integrated on the headlight harness.  Sorry for the confusion.

The fog light harness in the engine compartment for 1966 Mustangs was separate (C5ZB-15237-A - ref "1966 Mustang Electrical Assembly Manual" AM0013, pg43, item 26). The standard lighting engine compartment harness (all models) was C6ZB-14290-B (same manual, pg 13, item 1).

Now that you bring that up, I'm not sure.  I think you're right.Foglamp wiring integrated with underdash harness in 65/66 for sure.  Typically separate for 67/68.Foglamp wiring integrated with headlight harnesses from 65-68.
