Title: '68 NJ Hood hinge spring orientation
Post by: CharlesTurner on February 11, 2018, 10:49:49 PM
April '68 Metuchen car.  I'm seeing some hood hinge springs with the back hook installed from the inside and some from the outside.  Anyone ever noticed this or have an opinion if one way is correct or the other?

Found 4 cars so far with the RH side hinge having the spring installed from the outside on the back hook... weird.  If the back area can't be seen, it's easy to tell as the opening at the front of the spring will be to the top.

The vast majority I found were drivers side down (front end of spring)  passenger side up.  Of course didn't look at restored cars or cars with a repaint

Same at San Jose as well. Haven't checked Dearborn.

Our 68 unrestored GT350 has the RH hinge hook facing down. I have no idea if it has ever been messed with.
