Wasn’t Mel Burns Ford in Long Beach CA one of Shelby’s biggest sellers.
Thought I heard that Carrol Shelby sanctioned many of the original dealers
to be authorized Shelby dealers back in the days.
Just a thought.
Maybe it will help.
Rick

Hi Rick,

(a) Our database shows Mel Burn Ford ranked #48, with a total of 22 '67 GT units sold (and a heavy bias toward the GT500 model).

(b) Mel Burns was a Shelby franchised dealer for 1967. Dealers purchased franchises from Shelby American. Only franchised dealers could sell the Shelby products, up until Ford was in the process of taking over SAI (circa April 1967). Ford then allowed any Ford dealer to purchase a Shelby GT unit. This is the difference between a 'vehicle' and a 'continuation' invoice -- more about this in the Z-Vins topic at the SRG forum: https://groups.google.com/d/msg/shelbyresearch/vvHdD9CG4d0/llNdNAfKBwAJ
