68 Z bar
« on: April 24, 2022, 10:36:31 AM »
This is the Z bar I found on GT350 02646. It looks like the one shown on page 43 of the 68 chassis assembly manual for 289 HIPO. The one on page 42 is C7ZZ2728-G is more typical of a 68 J code and also it is shown on thecorralsnake website for the GT350.

The one on our car looks to have been there for a long time judging from the wear in the holes. Has anyone seen this type used on a 68 GT350.

The unrestored 68 GT350 4 speeds that I have examined more typically had the same Z bar that the 67 hipo had. FYI the 67hipo Z bar is different then the 66 version. This is not to say the regular 67/68 Mustang Z bar would not fit in the 68 GT350 because it will . I don't know why the engineers felt the need but just reporting what I have found. I posted pictures of the Z bar I typically found in 67/68 GT350's.
