Search question from a noob
« on: November 16, 2022, 12:02:46 AM »
I apologize in advance but I've spent an hour trying to find the library post about cleaning a driveshaft. My search results always come back empty. Is there a good reference for detailing a driveshaft and 8" diff/rear end?

Go to the "Search" feature located in the top line of the page, the first word of the line is Home in a rectangle. Type in "driveshaft cleaning" - do not use the letter "a" (our system does not like single letters). I found 17 topics in addition to your question.

That's because it's called a driveline in the Library.
According to some automotive texts the driveline includes the clutch, transmission, driveshaft and rear axle.

To be fair it's called different things in different parts of the country, just like the removable 3rd member can be called a pig.

Note that rust pits cannot be removed without impacting tube strength.
Then the answer is Deadnutson.com

On the 8" issue it's true this is a difficult search due to one letter or number not being valid in the search box. You can get around this by using the wild card after the single letter/number using the "*" character. Like "8*". Unfortunately, this results in too many results to be useful.

You don't list a year (look at my sig for an example of what to post) and your future posts will net many more correct responses if you include the car details.

I used the following in my search (for all years and models):
8inch restore

with this one being a good start if you have a 66 Mustang:
