Title: 70 A/C evaporator hose
Post by: machm1970 on February 13, 2015, 09:44:13 AM
I'm in the process of rebuilding my a/c evaporator case. I noticed the hole in the floor where the evaporator hose goes through is just a rough hole, it almost looks like someone punched a hole through the floor with a large phillips screwdriver or something. There isn't a grommet or anything, is this how it's supposed to be?

Thanks,

Matt

There is supposed to be a nipple there for the hose to attach to. You can repair that area with a plastic hose fitting from your favorite big box hardware store. I found something at Home Depot, epoxied it in place, sanded, painted, and voila - nice solid place to attach the hose.

Sorry, I just realized you're talking about the hole in the floor - I thought you were describing a hole in the case. Sorry...

My Mach 1 does not have a grommet either. Has an S shaped hose and the hole is 1" in diameter. Built March 1970.
