Replacing the aftermarket end links and bushings on the 65 GT 7/8" sway bar. The after market end link bolts are 6 & 1/4 " long and the install would have been easier if they had been a bit longer. The Drake sway bar bushings are 2" tall and my bushing bracket is about 1 & 1/2" deep maybe a little less. Do I just tighten the snot out of the bushing brackets to get them flush to the mounting surface ? Are my brackets correct ? Thanks, Brian

The brackets look right. The bushings will squash a bit when torqued.
Original 65-66 GT sway bar was 13/16"

OK they do squash down. Interesting about the 13/16" sway bar. My sway bar measurement came out at .835. Thanks, Brian

The factory end link bolts should be 5 13/16 long. Also, the spacer sleeves are supposed to be 1 1/2 inches long. Aftermarket items are often "problematic".

A used "relaxed" bushing on a GT sway bar I have is 1.870 inch in height. The bar diameter taken in the center was 0.840 inch and 0.850 inch 90 deg away (I use a mechanical dial, the batteries kept wearing out).

I just bought an original 13/16" special handling package / GT sway bar for my 64.5 V8.
1. Can I reuse my sway bar brackets?
2. Scott Drake sells the concours 7/8" bushings and mention that they are correct for a GT / SHP sway bar. Can I go with those or better use a 13/16" repro bracket and urethan bushings-kit ?
Thanks,
Michael
