Title: Disassemble toploader problem !!

Hi !

I am restoring my 4 speed 68 ! I follow the shop manual to dissamble my toploader.. I remove the counter shaft, now i cant put the transmission in 3rd gear to remove the front fork !! Someone have a tips to remove it ?!

nobody can help me to remove this bolt on the top of the fork without be in 3rd gear ???

I thought you needed to loosen the forks and remove the shafts before you pulled the counter shaft?

It's been years since I have rebuilt my toploader but I remember having to pull the shift lever studs out of the case before I could move the forks forward?? I think that might be the hang up, my 2 cents?? :-\
