Title: What are these clips for?

Ok, so I found these two clips in amongst 5 pounds of Californian sand that came out of the cowl. (Just as well I thought to sift it!)

Any idea as to what they are for?

looks like the clips that hold the cowl seal on.

Do you mean the hood to cowl seal?

They look different to the ones in my second picture though?
Where do they mount?

they look different because they are broken. the flat side with prongs sticks into the rubber & the other into the oval holes along the cowl.
