Hey guys working on the interior and wondering about the sequencing. I have the headliner in place and am working on the sailpanels. Should they go in before the rear windshield. I'm wondering if the rubber seal that goes around the glass laps over top of the top edge of the sailpanel or does the sailpanel just but up to the seal.

The original ones I have seen wrapped around the rear glass opening and the gasket helped hold it in place along with adhesive. The repros I ordered from npd do not have enough material to do this. If your panels have enough material overhang then that is the correct way.

I will be using the original ones and the moon skin material is wrapped around the top to the back side and taped. At the front by the quarter window it wrapped around the pinch weld. However I must add this is the first and only fastback I have restored, so this is all I have for reference. This sounds different from what you have seen.

I've added material to the reproduction stuff to make the "bends" around the body. Never had long term success slapping them in with out the wrap. Have tried glue, Velcro and other things but time and heat always seems to under-mind my efforts trying those fixes

Roger what the others said about the repop inside sail panels. They just don't install right. I replaced mine years ago when repops first came out. My originals did have extra material that was tucked under the inside back glass seal that helped hold it in place. I've had the same problem with the repops not being able to secure them properly. I think the best thing is to fabricate your own using a good quality board material and ordering correct moon skin material to cover leaving extra material to tuck and secure in the proper locations. Just a thought.

Thanks for the great input, I think I left enough material at the top to tuck under the seal. I wonder if anybody has ever tried to fashion another hidden fastener like at the front. It seams like two maybe three fasteners would have been better.

Have tried to hot glue it and add Velcro there and at the top - didn't hold up
