Title: Muffler Date Code
Post by: Skyway65 on May 10, 2010, 11:48:18 AM
I need some advice on how to proceed with my exhaust system.  I have a Ford muffler with the proper FOMOCO embossed letters that I purchased back in ’79 from the dealer.  The problem is that it has an 11/69 date stamped on it.  (my car was built in Jan of ’65) Would I be better off with a repro muffler with no writing on it, or go with this NOS muffler that is not date coded correctly?  I'm trying to do a trailered concourse car, but I am keeping the date codes correct on all of the parts that have dates.  Any thoughts or comments are appreciated.

Your Jan. 65 car would most likely not have had any markings on the muffler.

Thanks Charles;  that pretty much answers the question.  I was so impressed with the "Fomoco" lettering that I really wanted to use that muffler.   :'(
