Title: A/C evaporator coil restoration

Has anyone here attempted to restore their original evaporator coil. Mine is externally a bit dirty and has a bit of corrosion. I was wondering what others have used to clean the coil externally and internally. There are several products out there. I'm leaning toward an acid based product to take care of the corrosion and then doing a pressure test with nitrogen.

Any ideas?

There are coil cleaners you can purchase Like  this one (http://www.homedepot.com/p/AC-Safe-Air-Conditioner-Coil-Foaming-Cleaner-AC-920/100599017) from home Depot. I opted to replace mine as you have to do a bit of disassembly to get to it if anything should ever happen to it in the future. Mine is 46 years old. It may hold a vacuum/pressure now, but will it next year? Ok, in my case the system has been open for the last 20 or so years, so my situation may be a little different than yours.   :)
