Title: Correct '70 351C Snorkel Bolt Finish?
Post by: D0ZZ70MACH on November 26, 2015, 07:16:52 PM
Hello All.

11/10/1969 Dearborn Mach 1

Need some guidance on the correct finish for the two small bolts that mount the snorkel to the air cleaner for both shaker and standard air cleaners.  Was the snorkel mounted to the air cleaner before or after painting?  Wondering if the bolts should be painted Ford corporate blue or plated zinc or zinc dichromate.

Thank you in advance!!  Aaron

Snorkel and air cleaner base were joined together after painting so the attaching bolts/screws would not be painted.

Looking at some pictures of low mileage 69 Mustangs they appear to be Zinc dichromate. Most older cars the zinc still remains but the dichromate is long gone
