Title: Distributor C5GF-12127-A wanted
Post by: GermanDude on January 12, 2016, 05:43:08 PM
Hi to all,

I'm searching for an original Distributor C5GF-12127-A for my 1966 Fastback.
In best case it is rebuilt and ready to be built in but it's not a must.
The major thing is that it has to be original.

Each offer is welcome.

Thanks
Michael

By the way, I hope this distributor version is the right one for a 66 Fastback with manual transmission and A-Code.
That's what mentioned in the shop manual but I found also other sources on the Internet which listed other versions.

Michael,
The C5GF-12127-A distributor was used in 1966 on both manual and automatic transmissions for "A" code engines on all DSO's EXCEPT 71 (Los Angeles,  California) and 72 (San Jose, California). Those two DSO's had C5ZF-12127-A for manual and C5ZF-12127-B for automatic. That may be the other versions you have been seeing. Check your door data plate or the engine tag (if you have one) for the DSO.

In another post, the original poster supplied a VIN that indicates a Detroit build, most likely a non-Thermactor car.(read as not from DSO 71 or DSO 72)

The numbers should be C6ZF-12127-A and C6ZF-12127-B and my statement about "other versions" still applies.

I don't think it's my responsibility to research the pertinent information about a poster's car. Just an observation.

Sorry Jim, I did not intend to imply any responsibility required for you to research the OP's car. Possibly another situation where if the original poster had provided that information in the original request, I might not have been motivated to respond.

Possibly, I offered the information "out of line" somehow but I had otherwise noticed the original poster is somewhat new. I also determined that the OP was in Germany and may or may not have the DSO number or quite possibly, the understanding how that might weigh in with the request for a distributor.

Thanks to both of you and sorry for not having added all needed information.
I'm happy about  both answers because both contained new and interesting information for me.

Yes, unfortunately I do not have the door tag because the door is not the original one but the egine tag is available with:
289   C  66  10
6-C          250-S

If I understood you correctly I'm on the right track with C5GF-12127-A.

That matches what I had for my 1966 GT fastback with a level 10 change engine.

Sounds good.
So I'm on the right track.

It seems I found one.
Let's hope it will reach Germany in good shape.

Thanks for your help

Would the C5GF 12127 A also be correct for a 289, c code, c4, 72 DSO, scheduled date of 20 Oct (20K) out of SJ?

Check the library - "Mustang Distributors" for the correct one.
