Title: 1964 1/2 ignition coil
Post by: AU Finger on January 27, 2016, 09:50:28 PM
I am trying to confirm the correct part number for the ignition coil on a 1964 1/2 D code 289.  In my April 1965 dated parts catalog is says it is B6A-12029-B.  However, I thought that I read somewhere that it uses FAC-12029-A.  In Bob Mannel's book, page 4-48, it shows a 1964 Comet with the FAC coil number.  Can anyone confirm which is actually correct?

The answer is - yes. The part number for the coil is "B6A-12039-B", the box will say "DG-5" and it's marked "FAC-12029-A". Be patient with the Ford part number system, complain but patiently. After a while it becomes obvious.

I was thinking that the B6A coil was the yellow top coil, where as the FAC is an all black coil.  By the way, you don't have to tell me about the Ford part numbering system.  I work in the parts department for a Lincoln dealership.

FAC marking was used well after they changed to the AUTOLITE stamp - this example is dated to 1970

What color would you say the stamp is/  Silver or white?
