Title: San Jose Oct 64 Radiator Support Wire Clip
Post by: ChrisV289 on February 18, 2016, 12:50:46 AM
Was looking at some pics of when my dad first got the car in 1992 and there is a wire clip (same used on the shock tower brace) on the right side of the radiator support near the battery.  Is this common on San Jose cars around this time frame?  I have a pic I took at the 50th anniv in Vegas on Mike Murray's honey gold convertible and it has one but I believe that was built in Dearborn.

Thanks,
Chris

Yes - SJ cars used a clip there and didn't use the push in plastic loop just below that area but I think other plants used a loop there and no clip.

I believe the clip on the rad support was a later '65 thing, starting around April/May '65.

Nope not typical looking at other San Jose cars built around your car's production period.

Haven't seen them on cars until very very late 65 production @ San Jose

I stand corrected.  My 9/65 scheduled build '66 SJ car has the clip and I thought I had seen it on some original appearing '65 GT-350s but I don't find that to be the case when reviewing my '65 Shelby pictures.

Pictures?

Here are a few pictures of cars from that plant and time period without the clip.

So based on the picture Charles posted in another thread, this clip isn't even unique to San Jose?  He posted a late '65 model year Dearborn photo with the clip.

Correct it appears to be a fix/running from Ford that kept the wire loom up and off the battery and possibly away from the acid associated with that

Its just the PO was focusing on how it related to his specific car.
