I'm doing a 68 and would like to know if the numbers on my starter are correct before I have it redone
My car is a mid feb 302 Hertz car
Here's the numbers
Autolite. 12V. JSA
DOAE. 11001. B. OA8C
Is the date code. OA8C=A January. 8=year. And C=3rd week
Thanks

That is a 1970+ stamped cast Ford number. The date is January 8, 1970, and 3rd week or 3rd shift.

Picked up this C7AF starter from 7F01C129xxx Clearly mechanically stamped, no ink stamp. Black paint still on it. I suppose an ink stamp may have washed off. But the stamp is there.

It would be ether metal stamped with the engineering number or ink stamped on the starter. Not both. 67 was the transition year for this .Ink early ,metal stamp later in the production year.

No "casting " number but as described there are engineering numbers stamped in the main case or ink stamped depending on application and supply it appears

Haven't done it before but you might want to try calling Bob Antounian at CAE, Inc. Quality Remanufactured Starters & Alternators in Van Nuys, California. They also sell rebuilt units on EBay and normally show stamping details with dates

They also go by the name of bnrpart on e-bay. There's a write up here -
