What is the proper orientation of the mounting bolts for the caliper bracket/dust shield assembly, bolt heads on the dust shield side or vise versa? From what I can tell from shop and Osborn manuals it looks like nuts go on shield side but I see alot of the other way when doing a web search for pics. Any help is much appreciated. Brian

In this particular case trust the assembly manual illustration instead of what you found on your web search.

Thanks Bob. The illustration in my assembly manual isn't too clear so I went with what the shop manual shows which is nuts on the dust shield side. Not sure if the shop manual should be used as a definitive source. Just want to check with the experts and those who have more experience than me. Brian

First welcome to the site hope you find all your concours related questions answered here
Why don't you post your cars info and we can just provide a picture of what they were doing at the same plant and time as when your car was built?
You'll find attaching/listing your cars info in your signature a time saver over the long and even, short run as we'll need it often when respondign to your questions

Yes, I will do that. It's a 67 GT350 3-22-67 build. Brian

Just noticed that the thread is titled for the caliper bolts though it appears that the focus is on the four dust shield/spindle bolts
Here is a shot of two of those bolts/nuts and the caliper to spindle bolts that should help. Last time or before, the caliper bolt safety wires were not replaced

Interesting. I've been searching pics on the web that look like unrestored or original ( rusty, dirty, greasy ) and can find them both ways. Could it be a plant specific thing or line worker doing it the easier way? Would be interested to hear from others. Shop manual definitely shows nuts on dust shied side and from what I can see, so does the assembly manual. Brian

I don't know about other plants but SJ was typically as the assembly manual. I suspect the same for the others .

That is the way I've found 67 San Jose examples
