Hi ,
I saw 2 types of idler arms. One is built in one piece and bolt to the frame rail and the other one have a bracket like the black one in the picture ! What is the difference between this 2 ? The one piece its good for a p/s car ?

The bottom one is the correct style of the two. Other style is a aftermarket design often seen

Right this moment I can't recall if castle or jam nut is correct for the idler bracket nut in 68 but sure others will chime in :)

The idler arm is the weakest link in the steering. They are typically the most common item replaced. The nut on the bottom is a cone shaped lock nut . It is larger but similar to the style used on the rear end center section.

They can be rebuilt but it is a pain. The original assemblyline style is hard to find now. I try to keep a few rebuilt ones around . Chockostang ? Sells a very moderately priced respectable replacement alternative that although not concours correct is better looking then any other replacement I have seen . I would not think twice about using it on a driver car for a original look.
