On
7R01C120xxx 7F01C129xxx (correction) I found the power steering hose strap and fastener shown in the first two pictures. My own 7R02C156 car had a plastic push pin fastener instead, shown in the third picture. Any other observations out there so we can determine what was used and approximately when?
The 7F01C129xxx bolt is very similar to those used to mount the steering column bracket to the firewall. I have not compared them in detail yet. Note the "rose" colored washer, whereas the screw is P&O. I suppose the rose may be a washed out gold color.
Note that the hex nut in the pictures is simply for color contrast.

All of the original fasteners I have seen were a odd metal push pin that had J hook pins on them I will try to get some pictures. Did the bolt thread the hole or have some kind of a nut?

Thought we had done this subject before. Found one you started for 67 and another for the 68 cars (introducing the possibility that a different style of retainer was used)

Thanks Jeff. The example I included here was a 120 car and your earliest example is a 168. Do you have any earlier ones in the archive?
(edit) I looked through my collection and found a 101 San Jose C code with the plastic fastener, so think that your conclusion that it was an owner modification is likely.
My other observation looking through the pictures is that this detail is often overlooked in restorations, and apparently was somewhat flimsy and did not last 50 years like other features of the car. That makes sense with a design based on a plastic pin and a strip of rubber.

Made a pass of my pictures and found another example from an earlier car but not as early as your car. Too many AC pumps in the way and straps that were removed/fell off long ago Hesitating looking at cars built at other plants ::)

Fair difference between the reproduction strap and an original. At least with what we've posted in this tread owners can modify the repo to look more like the original now.

Somehow, I must have missed this thread when it originally "aired", so I am personally glad it has been resurrected.
While my January 31, 1967 is a little later than John's and Marty's, it interestingly has the same self-tapping hex head bolt and toothed washer as John's 7R01C120xxx example. I believe that this is way too coincidental to have been a "fix" by a PO or mechanic. My first thought is that this is another one of those many "1967 running changes" that occurred throughout the 67 Model Year. Another thought is that it could have been the result of a TSB or Special Service Letter, although I do not remember seeing such an "animal" in the TSB's, yet this will prompt another look. I couldn't find this strap in the 1967 MPC, the 1960-68 MPC, or the Assembly Manuals. Did I just miss it ?
I too, would like to know where to get the reproduction, as mine is mostly missing (see picture), yet the one posted by Marty appears too thick. And speaking of too thick, John, in your original Post, I assume (?) that you had the decimal point off, and it should have read "0.15-0.1625", correct ?
Once the thickness is verified, if the correct repro is not available, I plan on buying a cord reinforced rubber sheet and just cutting it to the correct width and length.

Don't believe these are available to simply order off a web site. At the same time These appear to be very similar to the heat hose rubber straps (appear to be recycled side walls from tires often) used on 65-66. Those are available as reproductions but have I compared the size of each nor have I compare their look and design to an original but think its worth checking out

Jeff : Thanks. I knew that there was something like that used on the heater hoses.
I called NPD and had them pull, and measure the strap. Good thing, it is made of tire cord ; bad thing, dimensions "close, but no cigar". It measured 10" long, 1-1/8" wide, and 1/4" thick. Actually quite a bit different than John noted in his opening Post.
Looks like I'll be getting the corded sheet, get out the shears and the hole punches.
