Title: My garage find
Post by: 64.5 Steve on October 23, 2016, 10:12:53 PM
Thought I would add a few more pics today cleaned some paint of Radiator bracket for Bob Fria emailed to him. Got results back from him. He said
"Steve -
  Here's what these codes mean:
C8 - your car was the 8th Mustang serialized within the "C" group of cars. We've learned there were two previous groups "A" and "B" assembled . The A group were Allen Park Pilot Plant built, and the B group appear to be the first pre-production Mustangs assembled on the Dearborn Assembly Plant assembly line. This group consisted of up to (not exact) 40 cars we've been able to identify within this group. Next came C group which appears to have started with VIN 100131. It's not known from my research to date how many Mustangs were in this C group, but yours is certainly one of them.

76A - This is a body code for a standard interior convertible

J6 - J is Rangoon Red exterior with Black interior

BL - means the car was ordered with the optional back-up lights"

No worries to all I was never looking to restore a mustang just replace a convertible I sold . So with that said all stays same with me. I did find something in a box not sure if it goes with car maybe you can let me know there are two of them with red paint on them ? I'm sure I will have lots more?s in the future and I thank you all for the help I'm goin to need   .

It's a bumper bracket for the rear bumper.  And from the looks of the pics your car has been repainted.

Sweet Garage find!

Pre-Production car mustang finds are pretty rare nowadays, but they are STILL out there..

If you don't mind me asking, What did you pay for this car?

:o)

Thanks,

Tony K.

Lucky guy. Looks like a fun car to do - best of luck with the project.

BTW I don't care if you paid $15 or $150,000  ;)

Me too! Always nice to hear of a good find, especially what it cost can make it even better  ;D  An early convert is not too common anymore and hopefully that is not offending to ask? It could be sent as a pm if the new owner wishes, but it's not that important to me, just curious too.
