Title: Wiper blades
Post by: Josep on November 23, 2016, 02:33:54 PM
Hi guys,

I was inspecting the wiper blades on my car the other day and noticed they are a little used, and not a bad idea to replace them. Is there any place were I can buy the correct ones. Found these at O'Reilly...

The originals were made by Trico.  This thread has some good information about wiper blades.

The metal portion does not look like the 1964/65 version . it looks more like the 67/68 version. The rubber will most likely work however.

About half of the information in that thread is incorrect besides being confusing but it was several years ago . 65 had the polished stainless plus something that was pictured but not talked about in the same polished picture is that also it has squared off sides and not rounded. The 66 version was the same except it was the satin finish . The 67/68 15 style was rounded satin finish Trico.

Thanks for the info Bob.
Thought they were the same blades as the ones that NPD offered in its website. I will check that squared and satin finish and see what happens.

Thanks again.!

No one is reproing the satin finish in the squared side style . The only place I have found them is used originals. Try to find some first and then if you can not find any I have some nice originals that i can sell.

Bob, here are some pics of my actual wipers. They're TRICO satin made, with the Made in USA under the brand name. Not sure if they are period correct as you stated before..

Those pictured look like 67/68 style with 5 sides and "TRICO MADE IN USA" stamp on both ends.  65 and 66 style have 3 sides and "TRICO" stamp on the tip end only.  65 were more glossy and 66 were satin like those pictured. Some of these had a small squarish slot punched in the tip end.
Attached a picture Bob had posted on another forum.

The 33-150 TRICO Classics from OReillys, etc have the same shape and sheen as the later 67/68 but don't have Trico logo. The attaching swivel also has no stampings.   The rubber inserts  will work fine as replacements for any of the 15" vintage blades - they even have the "ribbed" stainless steel backing like originals.
