Title: 1969 and 1970 Hood Lip Mouldings
Post by: Anghelrestorations on May 08, 2017, 06:53:26 PM
New short factoid on this topic that seems to come up again and again...mainly what is the correct fasteners.  Should be a good reference for all of us to use.
Questions or comments let me know...

Great article!
There was a guy on ebay user name fishfarts selling his nice repro of the riveted strip a while back.
Can't find him or the item anymore:(

Not sure who that would have been...but I am happy with the one Scott makes that I mentioned in the article.  Its a perfect fit.

You mentioned the molding is different but there doesn't look to be any clear image of this difference. In the pictures you did use, it looks like the 69 molding has a more distinct peak (side view), while the 70's are rounded off.

Yeah...I thought about that.  Good idea.  I can add some more pictures/information that shows the difference...but its the overall shape and not the peak area thats different.

Ok, I updated the file and the link above to show a side by side comparison of the actual 69 and the 70 hood lip moulding now.

Great picture Marcus clearly shows the difference between the two.  More of a difference then one has a backing plate and one doesn't.  Brian

Marcus, Great article. I was always under the impression that both the 69 and 70 retaining nuts were both zinc dichromate on the hood mouldings.?

Updated the link and document now (beginning of this thread) so that we have the correct finishes on the retainer nuts.  Also changed the part numbers for the 1970 retainer nuts since that was not correct and some photos.  Should be good now....
