Title: Convertible Top Frame Bushings
Post by: qman on August 25, 2010, 07:00:39 PM
I just got off the phone with the company that is putting on the top of my 67 convertible.  They said that everything is done ....except the top bushings need to be replaced.  The bushing they were talking about were not part of the motor or the pumps, but rather bushings on or near the bows themselves.  Now granted this was over the phone so at times I'm having problems picturing just what we were talking about.  At any rate I'm in need of 4 bushings for the top.  Does anybody have a source for these?  Thanks,

Check in any of the parts vendor catalogs.  Usually listed in convertible top section.  They are probably referring to the bushings that go on the end of the power cylinders.

Charles, that's what I thought too.  But they said not the cylinders.  I'll drive down and take a look and get back to the forum tomorrow.  Thanks anyway. Q.

There are a dozen or more bushings used on the top.  Bow to bracket, intermediate side rail to rear rail, eccentric, etc.  No one is reproducing I could find so I had all new ones machined when I restored my '68.

Interested to find out if the new-ish repro top frames are of the same design and possibly that vendor could provide sets....

I am restoring the top frame of my 1966 convertible. My original plastic bushings are shot. Does anyone have a source for exact reproductions of these bushings?   I bought one set and they are nothing like the originals. So I am at a standstill on the project right now.  Thanks!

I found some decent matches at Lowe's/Home Depot.  Try there first.  Some will be harder, might have to re-use what you have.
