Title: Eaton Pump Leak

So I changed the seals between the canister and the actual pump in the pictures below from the website listed but I still have a leak from there.  Is there supposed to be another gasket or what have other done?  I don't think the leak is coming from anywhere else.  I had the pump rebuilt already but the bottom of the canister was wet. Thoughts?

I remember some type of seal or o-ring there.

I don't recall, sorry.  I just remember there being some seals in-between.  Maybe try a little RTV sealer?

If I remember right rebuilding my Eaton... There should be a thin metal spacer with two holes and built-in gaskets (or O-rings) that is placed in-between the bottom of the fluid canister and in-between the pump base... Its been a while... I remember it now because it was seized pretty tight on the bottom of the fluid canister... Not sure what the part number is...

Ok so after putting some sealant between the canister ad pump I narrowed down the leak to the shaft seal.  I just took the pump out, changed the shaft seal on Friday, installed everything and the leak is still there.  Any suggestions?  Not sure why it would be leaking from there after changing the seal out.  Thought about calling Roger Rhodes tomorrow to see what he might say....

Maybe some pitting or excess wear on the shaft.  Rhodes can probably help you out.

I have only rebuilt one Eaton PS pump, and unfortunately I do not yet have the rebuilt engine fired up, still waiting on exhaust parts, so the condition of the pump is still unknown.  I found some scoring on the shaft, and that may have been a source of a leak, but the car was not running when purchased.  I am not aware of a source for the shafts.  I did however find an article on line somewhere where a guy found a source for a sleeve that went between the shaft and seal to “correct” the scoring on the shaft.  I have my doubts since I question what fixes the “seal” between the scored shaft and sleeve.

So I've changed the shaft seal yet again.  Consulted with Rhodes who said to use the NAPA automatic transmission fluid as the one from O'reilly is too thin.  Still was leaking.  Consulted with Dan from Chocko stang who said to change the seal but feed the shaft from the font.  Done all that and yet it still leaks from there.  Are these eaton pumps just prone to leak or am I missing something else?  I sent pics of the housing and shaft to Dan and he said they look great...Totally lost now...

Haven't had any leaking issues on the Eaton I restored a while back.  Might consider going with another pump.
