Title: Boss 429 Wheel Date Codes and Markings
Post by: GT500KR on March 05, 2018, 04:23:52 PM
Searching, I couldn't find anything specific on the markings found on Magnum 500 wheels. Some threads have photos that have expired, etc. Please forgive me if I missed something.

I'll try to attach some photos of the wheels from my Boss 429. I'm thinking that they could be original since the car was built 9/26/69 per my Marti report. Guessing that 9 18 is month and day and the number 9 inside the capitol "D" is 4Th quarter of 1969? There is also a 4 inside a circle. M4 over the number 9 is also stamped on the lip. All 4 wheels have the same marks. I'm about to replace the tires with some no size Goodyears, anything I should look for on the inside of the wheels?

I also have some codes on the tires, Polyglas with size, 2 with MBUD DLA012 1 with CBNCJBDL and 1 with AFNBJBC1. Probably should start a new thread on those, I'm almost certain they are not original.

Thanks,
Charlie.

anghelrestorations.com always has great articles. Thanks. My suspicions were correct, the tires were built much later.

Anyone have an opinion on the originality of my wheels? After taking another look, the 4 may be inside an open circle, or possibly the letter "C"? Also the center caps are the short style with an opening slightly smaller that 2".

i think the 9 in the D  is the center april 69 date stamped  & the  rim sept  as the 2 parts were stamped at different times then welded together later
