Title: rear end paint for 7.25" (6 cylinder)
Post by: CraigG on April 25, 2018, 04:37:24 PM
I am restoring a '66 6-cylinder (Dearborn build Feb 66) coupe and my searches regarding the correct paint/finish haven't been very fruitful. The axle tubes need to be semi-gloss black, and it is apparent to me the center section was red oxide primer. But, I can't tell after disassembly if the cover on the back of the center section was ever painted, or primed, or just bare steel. The MCA concours guidelines mention the center section for a 6-cylinder car can be black or red oxide, but the way it is worded, I am not sure about the rear cover.

black would be most appropriate.

Thank you! That is most helpful.
