Title: 1964-1/2 260 Exhaust System
Post by: must69 on May 15, 2018, 07:36:45 PM
I am at that point in the restoration and need to get an exhaust system.  Looking for recommendations on complete system and hangers.  Suggestions?
Thanks.

What's your price range? Here's one of the more "pricer" shops http://www.scottfullerreproductions.com/NewsandUpdates.html

I was going to say this as well, but then I realized I don't think Scott does the earlier systems for a 260...

Some real nice looking stuff, but way out of my price range.  Also looking for single exhaust.
Thanks!

Thanks for the lead on Waldron.  Had not heard of them before.  Have looked at NPD’s and other catalog.

As far as I can tell, the 260 engine did not come with the resonator.  Can anyone confirm that?
Thanks.

Resonators were not on the 260's.  They were introduced late 64 (November 64).

Just went through this for my 1966 coupe 289. Purchased a single exhaust system in aluminized steel from Waldrons as they're down the road from me. My car came with a resonator - so I had Waldrons add one to the system - you can order it with or without. Will be installing it on Monday and can let you know how it fits. Quality looks very nice.

Did some research and asked around. This might not apply to the very early cars, but NPD sells the correct hangers and clamps for the 1966 model year. Waldrons might be willing to make a specific hanger, if you can't find one. So far, I've been impressed with the customer service from Waldrons.

Sounds great.  Can I ask how much the Waldron system cost?

It was $330 for the system - might be less without the resonator. Here's a link.

Waldrons single aluminized exhaust is installed. Not trimming or adjustments necessary. All new factory style hangers fit up well to the system. I got the system with the resonator and it's very quiet. Just for comparison, I might look at the system from Precision exhaust as well, though, I've read some about fitment issues.

I know NPD also offers a single exhaust system, but not sure who makes it. If I had to do this again and hope I don't for quite a while, I would go with Waldrons. It took less than two hours to remove the old system and install the new.
