Title: License Plate Light Assembly - Rivet Finish?
Post by: Morsel on May 17, 2018, 01:09:46 AM
I'm putting my license plate light back together and I know the body was zinc dichromate, but what about the rivets that held the two pieces together. I assume the assemble was finished before rivets went in and the rivets would have either a clear zinc or be natural steel rivets. Anyone know if they had a finish on them?

Thanks,

Jason

Originals looked zinc plated to me.

Drilled out ones are steel (magnet test) which should be zinc (tumble) plated to be rust proof.

Thanks all, that helps a lot.

Take a peek at the attached photos, does everything look good here? Sorry they are a little blurry...

Since asked , I don't see signs of a gasket under the glass lens.

I have it, just wasn't in when this was taken, was more looking at the finishes of things and how it came together...

But thanks for looking at it so closely ;)
