Title: Eaton p/s pump, high pressure?
Post by: CharlesTurner on May 24, 2018, 02:08:05 AM
Has anyone ever run into issues with an Eaton power steering pump causing excessive fluid pressure at the control valve?  I'm having an issue with the spool seal on the stud end blowing out and allowing fluid by.

I haven't had any issues yet.  The only thing I have is a slight leak where the shaft that connects to the pulley.  Think I need to change that seal

Could be the pressure bypass valve is stuck closed?  I think there is a way to measure the pressure with a gauge.

Found the washer at the stud seal end of the control valve had too large of a center opening.  Swapped with another one that covered the seal and not having an issue now.

Did read that the pressure valve could be installed backward and possibly cause too much back pressure.

Thanks for the replies.
