Title: 68 floor pan drain cover date stamp

First time I noticed date stamped 68 floor pan drain covers.  Might be old news for some.  Is this common?  I would expect that to be the case but am curious.

The dates have been on all of the original covers I have taken off in the last few decades. I haven't decided if it is a shame or a blessing that the month and day date code is covered up once installed.
