Trying to find out the factory correct front coil spring paint id for a 67 gt500 built 1/27 san jose. 4spd power steering car. have seen gold and pink and yellow and pink on restored cars . I'm assuming that the springs were installed at the san jose plant and they may be the factory big block springs used on the gt 390 mustangs. According to info I have on those cars they would be gold and pink. Is this correct? Any thoughts on this shelbys factory coil id colors?

Not sure what your using as a reference (hopefully not that Mustang Details paperback :(
The service replacements for a 390 fastback 4 speed with only PS was Orange and Violet
In addition the Add/Delete sheets from Shelby build groups early in the year (Jan period) indicate that the regular Mustang front springs for the application were replaced with others - specifically C7ZA-5310-N. This changed later in the year
Seeing you have a pretty early built car and it appears (from original cars) that the springs changed (or at least their markings did ;) a minimum of three times during the production year the closest car I have to yours, equipped with the same options had a single Orange stripe. As always yours could have also included the over or under rating stripes but the majority of springs (IMHO) did not include these other marks
Hope this helps

If you are not sure it is better to put nothing then to put something that may be wrong just for the sack of a marking IMHO. I have never deducted for not having a paint marking but have on numerious occasions point deducted for marks that had no business being there. I think my peers will concur. Bob
