Title: Bumper Questions
Post by: must69 on June 09, 2018, 08:40:51 PM
I have searched this forum and others concerning rechroming original bumpers vs reproach, and the consensus seems to be heavy in favor of rechroming originals. My original 64-1/2 number is straight and sure needs rechroming.  I found a production date of 6 23 which is good for a July 13 production. The date was stamped in the area where the tag light would be.  The front bumper is is not as quite a good of shape and wondering if rechromers can also straighten them?  I could not find a production date on the front.  Any suggestions where it may be located?  Lastly, any suggestions for a rechromer in the NJ area?
Thanks.
Phil

Yes, They can easily straighten them.  It comes free usually with the cost of rechroming...

An Original Ford Factory Front '65-'66 (and 64 1/2) bumper has the date stamped on the bottom of the Driver's Side lower Bumper Tab.  If you can't find any Date Stamp there, chances are the bumper is a replacement (older repro possibly).

See pics below.

Thanks for the info and photos.  I looked on the tabs, but more on the inside.  I’ll check again.
Thanks!

Date coding and examples of locations of many are included in the decoding date markings article located in the sites Library also ;)
