Does a 68 engine assembly manual have the 428CJ motor in it or is a 69 manual needed to get the CJ information ? Im asking because the 68 shop manual doesn't have the CJ in it you have to get a 69 manual for the CJ specific info.

The 68 engine assemblyline manual has very limited CJ info. Can you be a little more specific so as to tell you where to look?

Bob, I was looking for the info on the correct bolts (length+type) used for mounting the brackets and pulleys.

The 69 engine assembyline manual shows some but not all of what you seek. I do not have a 68 version handy to confirm but suspect it will be similar at best and most likely not as much in that regard. Nether will give makers marks of the bolts used. That info will come from direct observation and not manuals.

Trying to think of 1968-1/2 Cobra Jet specific bracket or fastener, that isn't the same as 1968 S code 390-4V with thermactor.
Those with 1968 Engine Assembly Manuals, does it show 390-4V engines with smog? Do not think that Osborn reproduces the 1968 Engine Assembly book?

There isn't one. I don't know how accurate the 67 and 69 Engine Manuals are if applied to 1968, but it is an option.

Bob, Scott, Jim, thanks for the responces the 67 engine manual is very detailed and identified all bolts this came in very handy for a 67 390GT it never occurred to me that a 68 engine manual would not be available.

At least one 1968 engine manual exists - my copy :) http://www.concoursmustang.com/forum/index.php?topic=13177.msg80735#msg80735
I've attached the most relevant page to your application. It predates the Cobra Jet introduction, so there may have been later changes that did not make their way into my copy.
My apologies to the Mustang community for dragging my feet on getting the book reproduced. I fully intend to do so, because it's important that the information is preserved and shared.
