Title: 65 Hipo Leaf Spring Center Bolt Torque Spec

I have been all over my manuals and this site and have been unable to find a torque spec for the Leaf spring centering bolt on a 64 1/2-65 K-code vert.  When I got the re-arched springs back from the shop, the bolt heads they installed were too short to engage the pad on axle housing.  Not much effort to get the ones off that the shop put on, but I'd like to have the correct torque on new ones from AMK.

Me too. In this case, I looked at the spring specs, and general specifications in the suspension section of the 65 and 66 service manuals; the AMK Guide to Ford Fasteners; and the 69 Standard and Utility Parts book. No grade is specified, so you fall back on the general guidelines for hardware torque, which is, for a 5/16-24 threaded bolt, 12 foot-pounds. A grade 5 bolt is 19 foot pounds and I would recommend that you not go past that.
I believe that Ford serviced the rear leaf springs as a complete assembly, so no torque is listed.

Yes serviced that way though the bolts were available also I believe. Still doesn't mean that they ever published the specs. Leaving the post here since the tightening of the bolt is not really year specific nor model specific but happy those were provided by the OP

Thank you for the quick replies Jim & Jeff.  The bolt markings on the head indicate that they are grade 8.  From the chart for a 5/16-24 Grade 8 it looks like the torque is 327 in-lbs (27 ft-lbs.)  You get the same from your chart Jim?
