Title: 72 Dearborn Seam sealer
Post by: nham3407 on October 06, 2010, 01:39:30 PM
Looking for help on the correct seam sealer and where it can be purchased.  Need to seal floors, trunk floor, and quarter structure on a 12/27/71 production date Mach 1.  Attached photo shows what it looks like.  Never mind the holes in the floor.

It seems to be sprayed on under coating to me. I used liquid under coating and an under coating spray gun. I've had the stuff for 20 years, don't recall where I got it. Maybe Eastwood.

The original appears to just like sound deadener sprayed on heavy as it appears to be a tar and asbestos base that seeps through the exterior paint applied over it

With that said and since it will not be visible (in this location) you can choose to reproduce the original stuff by using like a spray undercoating  or improve by applying it with a brush (to cut down on the mess or use a modern product such as an acoustical spray
